Hiya everybody,
i have started work on designing my first character that i will use to learn 3d animation. Here is where i have got so far:

Nothing original, i know!!!

I dont know whether to keep it as a human character, or as an alien/monster hiding in the human world wearing human clothes. And, as you can probably see, i am having trouble designing the head! So, any advice or fun ideas are welcome. Also, feel free to doodle over the pic and post that to me!!

Cheers,

Assie :bounce:

ps, i hope Keith Lango don't see this, is it looking too much like his character????

Kinda reminds me of someone you'd see in a Wallace and Gromit short. Have ya thought of using any of that stuff for a head reference?

I think that it's the tank top that does that!! :D
Looking at images of wallace, i dont think that it is the style i want to go for!! Do you think i should stick with the human character idea then??

Looking out for people's opinions.

Do you think i should give him futuristic alien clothes, like on blit wizbok??

I kind of like the blank face. It shows an interesting character style.

Communicating everything through body posture and head titling could be rather interesting. I can all ready see two characters like this having an animated conversation. All communitcate through body language instead of eyes and mouth expressions.

I like slaughters idea alot, BUT, it would take an experienced animator to pull that off well, its not the kind of thing I would suggest when learning 3d animation.
I don't think you should give him futuristic clothing. Contrasts are usually a good thing, and I like the contrast in that sketch. If you want to show that he's an alien, do it through action. It'll be a good challenge for someone starting out. Aliens might not drink coffee, so what would we see him drinking instead? There are alot of things like that you could do animations on.
Those're my thoughts, hope I help!

Slaughters: My original plan wasn't to leave the head blank, it was just stand in head so you guys get an idea of the overall look!! Good idea though!!

Tecknobabel: Thanks for your input. I will just create a quick sketch to see if the fururistic clothing idea works, but i think that i may just keep the ones i have now. It will be something different having an alien in human's clothing.

Straightmark:I don't know, that's odd. I am guessing everybody else can see it all ok!! Anybody else having any trouble?
