View Full Version : Node editor - Urgent!

Hi folks

I thought I would use blender for compositing a school assignment that is due tomorrow(!).
I have rendered out a image sequence from maya named color.0001 ..etc.
Now I need to import these as a sequence into blenders node editor to composit it with an ambient occlusion pass.
The way to do this is from what I've understood: open the node editor and hit "SHIFT A" and then add> input> image.
But for me there is no "image" option under input. I've only got geometry, camera data, material, value, RGB and texture to choose from.

Would be very grateful if somebody could tell me what i'm doing wrong.

ao is a lighting technique performed with an algorithm to calculate how light bounces, there is no way to render it from static images unless u fake it.

There is a trick to fake the effect though. Search for node editor and ambient occlusion on blendernation. You should be able to find it.

Urm, I don't know what these other answers are about, but the simple answer is that you're looking at Shading nodes, not Compositing nodes. There are two icons down the bottom of the node editor sub-window, that let you toggle between shading and compositing - the one on the right is the one you want, and will give you access to all the comp stuff.

Thanks a bunch brkn! I managed to get everything together before deadline. As to the other replys I can say that I already had a rendered occlusion pass that I needed to composit together with my beauty pass:)
I will look into that other trick anyway, seems interesting

Thank you anyway everybody!

well excuse me, you're the node editor wizz guz.
After reading your post again lonnq, I see they have little to do with what you were trying to achieve (and have achieved by now), but here are the links after all:

One of these techniques is from brkn.

okay I should have read the initial post better. . . But what the hell...
