For me the MTV movie awards have as much vailidity as confederate money.

It only a popularity contest.

Anyway Gollum will run way with this award.

"For me the MTV movie awards have as much vailidity as confederate money. It only a popularity contest. "

and the Oscar's aren't? at least they are showing that CG has a major part in the movies, and not just making 3d cartoons.

personally, i would rather watch the MTV awards just to see how they "showcase" each movie of the year. i liked it when they had the Brady Bunch do Baisc Instinct. that's all i watch them for anyways, i could care less who wins what and what everyone wears...

The Oscars a popularity contest?

Right... Then explain how the veerrrrrrrry popular Tom Cruise has no Oscar? He's been nominated a couple times, yes?

Or Jim Carrey? Again, ample opprotunities.

Puh-lease... the Academy may be older in its biases but at least it has the maturity to choose substance over ratings, which brings it above such things as MTV's "Awards."

Now, is MTV's stuff more fun? Sure. But to interpret it as anything but pure teen-aged en-masse who-cares-if-it's-good...it's-popular thinking is deluding oneself. :D

The Oscars are just a bunch of boring meaningless drivel. It may not me a popularity contest but it certainly is all about politics. You can't tell that Chicago deserved all of those awards. IT didn't. The Oscars are just a bunch of stuffy people telling you what to like. The MTV awards are decided by the movie going public that we cater to. I want them to watch my movies not a bunch of so-called film critics. I could care less about there opinion. In fact I think that the Oscars committees make a lot of bad decisions.

My 2 cents.

i know the mtv awards are really just for fun (hey, mtv generation here) but maybe in a few years people will look back and say "yeah they were the first to have an award for virtual cg character perfomance"

one can hope :)

Yeah.....I always thought the oscars pick the least popular...most obscure, and the least entertaining thing they can find..so everyone can pretend that they actaully know whats going on...

Oscars lost alot of ground to MTV as far as younger audiences go....At least in my mind...

Give gollum as mutch recognition as he can get......
