Hello......

I'm attempting to constrain my hand to rest on the hips of a character as it walks (keeping the hand in the same location while the leg moves). So far, I haven't been able to acheive this effect. I'm using Maya 8 and my character is set up to use FK for the arms and hands. If anybody could please offer a solution to this, I would appreciate your help.

for this approach i thing you have to go into ik. Then use a parent constraint to constraint the head to a locator or so, that is parented under the hip. You could build this setup for some specific scene quite fast.
If you have some time and patience, you can build the rig in a way, that you can blend the ik/fk, as well as the "following of the hips" .
