View Full Version : Character: Devil
bostondv 04-17-2003, 03:07 PM Hi All,
I just finished a new character I've been working on for the last week or so. It's modelled and rendered in 3ds max 5.1
let me know what you think of it:D

Hey.. improve the background.. its really messing up your char idea... better post the render to a white background...
;) i think its okay.. for an animation-esque character..
Any more works like these ? You got style.. :)

Thanks Maximus. I'm glad you like the style:beer:
I agree that the background doesn't work so well. I'll definitely work on that some more. I'm also working on the rig still and I'm planning to animate him in the future.
Anyone have suggestions on what to do with the background? I'm thinking of animating him in a cave setting. Possibly located in the depths of hell:)
I'll post a render with a white background later tonight.
I don't have any more characters like this guy, he's my first:p

Good character this devilish dude. I have never subscribed to the fire and bristone setting for these fellows..I think he would look good pushing the down button on an elevator to Hades.:)
The tummy to mouth area bothers me a touch. Too much like the tasmania devil from warner bros. Mayhaps modeling a chin or othe rbreak feature?

hey, i like the character, i agree the background needs some work, im guessing that is painted and might be a background or somthing, probably composited in post, but it looks like he sticks out cause his feet are lit from the bottom and the ground is dark,
modeling and stuff is good, assuming cartoon is the style you want its dead on, just check the tail a little, cause it looks to flat, partly from AA problems
good luck , chaos

Thanks Guys!
It's actually not composited, but some of the lights I used to light only on the character which I think is why he is standing out of the backgroudn so much.
I'm working on another pose with a simple white background. I'll post it soon!
I've been experiencing problems rigging and skinning him:( (I'm not very experienced with rigging/skinning in 3ds max 5, but I'm trying to learn.) Does anyone know of some good skinning/rigging tutorials or tips for 3ds max 5?
Hopefully soon I'll have him skinned, then I'll post more images and hopefully some animation tests:)

Nice pose! He's a good looking character. The lighting in the second shot is a little dark but he looks better taken off the background and more unique.

You cannot post "updates" in the Gallery forum.
Since this appears to be a WIP, I am moving it to the WIP forum.
