View Full Version : How to animate a motor boat?

I'm sure this is an easy question, but I'm a noob (coming from Blender) and dynamics has a lot of options.
I've created an ocean, a preview plane and a boat. I selected the boat and chose "make Motor Boat." I have the bouancy set, so the boat looks to be floating normally. I have the throttle, rudder and pitch/roll set as well. When I play back the scene, the boat moves across the water as expected (even rising up as it speeds up - exciting!) However, when I batch render the scene, the boat just sits there.
I'm guessing it's something simple with the render, because when I preview it, it looks fine.

Thanks.

As long as you render in a single sequence on one machine it should work. However it is usually a good idea to do "Edit: Keys: Bake Simulation" before rendering. Then it will always update OK, even if you render on a renderfarm.

Yup - single sequence, one machine. I'll try baking, as you mentioned. Perhaps the boat object I imported from another project has a location key frame set, or something. I'll try a new object just to test.
