HI there,

Hit F4 -choose-'Curves'-'Duplicate Curves' and select the perimeter
isoparms on the original patch: you will re-patch with these curves
to maintain the ear piece shape.
then create your hard crease patch as you did before.

Using Bi-rail 2 create a new patch from the duplicated earpiece
curves and the isoparms from the crease patch (then delete your
old crease patch)

For nice topology rebuild and match surfaces,

Maya has a very poor choice of mesh creation tools and patching
is often the only way to create specific surfaces, birail and square
commands often create poor topology or hold their shape badly.

See other progs like Rhino or Alias Studio for more accuracy where
nurbs are concerned.

hope this helps

thanks for replying mate ..the way that you explain to me seem a little bit complicated for me...
i created this piece from poly then converted to SubD ..so there is no isoparm for this object ..
but i'll give it a try
...and do u thing there is a better way to fix this

thanks again...

Apologies BigDevil,

I thought it was a Nurbs model from the screenshots
in which case there are no isoparms as you say.

I generally use Nurbs for hard body objects like helmets
and polys for organic stuff like bodys and heads.

Did you create the shape from a poly sphere and/or curves?

Cheers

i use a simple poly plane to start with then keep extruding the edge until i get the shape i wanted ...actually my purpose on this model is not to create a nice helmet but just wanna learn about poly and subD and how to maintaining the shape after applying hard crease edge or in some area that has dense geometry

for example as u can see from the picture underneath ...

i cut the rectangle hole on the cylinder and i want the edge around the hole look smooth and still maintaining the shape of rectangle but no by using bevel of course becasue it would create a sharp edges instead then i use split edge loop tool split geometry around the hole ... but the result is not so impressive as u can see from the reflection it still show us some dense area how can we fix this problm??
