Title: USS Excalibur - a star trek space ship
Name: Patrick Schaerli
Country: Switzerland
Software: Blender, GIMP

This is a Star Trek based space ship. The design is my own, but I used some elements of official ship to conform to the general Star Trek style.
Modelled and rendered in Blender 2.45. Post-pro and other 2D-work (background, textures...) was done in GIMP 2.4.

Comments are welcome.

Very good Style :) me likes.

Looks better than the stuff that got aired near the end of "Enterprise"

only crit would be the lack of action or scene!
maybe i fight next time? i vote for the Borg or even an asteroid?

GOOD JOB

You did sure seem to capture the star trek style of ship design i see a lot of it resembles Voyager (my personal favorite series) but it is unique. It looks like it has the same hull plating as voyager that tri-tainium durainium alloy. but i really do like your design. I just wish you had some more angles of it. well hope to see more on your ship.

Nice work.

Voyager sure was the main inspiration for this ship. You wished more angles, well...I made one other picture of it.

0_0..... A moment of silence...

Nice sir. Very, nice! I might just have that as my background this week. That is a very nice angle as well, and it’s nice to see the Deflector dish and the underside. I am a fan of the Enterprise E Sovereign-class, Voyager Intrepid-class, and I liked the style of the Nova Class. You have done a great job mixing some of my favorite Star Trek ships together.

Now my question is what did you do for the windows did you use a texture or what? Also did you use any certain technique to model the ship? I was planning on modeling a star trek ship here soon and was wondering where you started with yours and what not. Any words of advice or what not. And one last questions what technique do you use to model? Do you use a basic object and extrude or what? It would be nice to see a wireframe just to see your modeling technique if you don’t mind.

But very nice work and thanks for the new angle (two thumbs up)
