Hi

Is there an easy way to make good neon tube lighting?

Currently I am taking splines from illustrator and giving them a self lit texture, however it doesn't cast any light onto it's surroundings. In place of distributing lots of little low power lights along the spline (not really possible anyway, because the splines are disjointed and c4d only seems to like the spline up until it closes on the 1st letter of my shape), is there a way to do this to cast light through the texture?

I've seen this done with mental ray in max, and going back some years - imagine on the amiga could do it too.

If you use GI any luminescent surface will cast light, however it's quicker in general to just use an area light set it to object mode and use the spline as the source.

if you want to make many splines into one, just select all your splines in the object manager and right-click and select connect. The resulting spline (new object) is like a "compound" spline in Illustrator.
Get rid of the separate splines and use the single (multi spline) to do anything you want.

Hope this helps
