hi
I am currently in the process of making a webcomic in 3D.
I have one main character, that basically begins as an ordionary person, and goes through training to become a ninja-style assassin.
my question is how would I go about showing the training period of his life?
in a movie this would be the part when there is background music and you see a few shots of him working out. but since this is a comics, I'm not sure what to do.
because the interesting part of the story starts after he has already completed his training.
do I have to make up a side story and merge it with the training? or is there another way of showing this?

thanks,
Malki

The method commonly used in comics for this sort of storytelling is to show one large page with multiple overlaid transparencies of the character in different scenes. It condenses the the time into one image.

could you please show me an example (or tell me where to look) so I'll understand better what you mean?

Thanks,

Think of a montage--but on one page with more obscured borders (or no panel borders at all), laid out not necessarily in a clean left/right/up/down manner, but more like a freeform composition but done to emphasize certain parts of his training.

thank you for all your help and ideas,

but I think I'll go with flashbacks, so each time I uncover a new ability, he has a flashback to the time he was training on it.

thanks again,
Malki
