Hey guys, this is officially my first post here at CGTalk. I'm sure for the next week I shall be hailed as the noob of the week, but whatever, I need some help from some experts, so any help would be hot:
1. For one of our projects, I have to create a bump map out of photoshop for a face. I have the completed texture for the UVs already completed, and it atually looks pretty good. Now from what I understand, manipulating the brightness and contrast in PS can create a pretty god bump map, but I'm having a hard time with it. No matter what I tweak, it seems to be coming out looking like my guy's face is melting, or he had been in a fire. Now, it could be that I'm loading the file in the wrong place, which actually brings me to my next question...
2. This is the first time I've had to use Mental Ray's misss fast skin plug-in. Is there anything special I have to do to or a special place I have to load the bump map file. This could very well be the answer to my problem from earlier. While there is a place that says 'bump shader', it doesnt have any of the conventional places to tweak depth and so forth for the bump.
I appreciate any help on these questions, or just some redirects for tutorials.
