Title: Fire At Will
Name: Reb Capper
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Photoshop

Gun concept - From what started as a doodle..for my own crazy brief and was intended to be a fun concept gun to hunt dinosaurs in some cool steampunky dino world. This gun concept is powered by the dinosaur eggs rescued from their kills or harvested from the farms and are pierced by the protective skeletal structure that surrounds it and holds it secure. The organic energy is kept warm and alive as it is slowly sucked into the internal components like a living battery to bring the gun to life.

Started a month or two back but has provided happy relief inbetween other work, so tweaking time.. probably around 2 days. All in PS.

Comments most welcome.

I think the concept is excellent, however the trigger I feel needs to be moved about 90 degrees counterclockwise and the frame in that area widened to accomodate a triggering mechanism. Also I think you should show a pivot point for the trigger as well...but all of this is just my .02..it's nice anyway.

looks nice, the egg power concept is funny.

It does look a bit flat, though. Some darker shadows, or a more contrasting background would add up I believe =) And i kind of can't figure out how does the "energy" flow through this weapon - it's so detailed i can't tell which part actually makes it bang =)

Keep up the good work though =)

Guys! Why so serious!? :) This was only for my own crazy brief and was intended to just be a fun concept gun to hunt dinosaurs with in some cool steampunky dino world. Everything and anything can be engineered to work with the best technology, which as we all know is getting smaller by the day. In this world trigger mechanisms can fit into a ball bearing and are as powerful as a nuclear torpedo and 90 degrees is a pop band ;). As for the powering via the egg, dino eggs are harvested from the farms and are pierced by the protective skeletal structure that surrounds it and holds it secure. The organic energy is kept warm and alive as it is slowly sucked into the internal components like a living battery to bring the gun to life.

As for shadows - I have tried a drop shadow around it but thought it detracted from the pure design, but I may revisit and have a play! :) I guess this piece is just more about a crazy design rather than a beautiful painting.

Cheers for the comments!
