Title: Elephant Man
Name: Michael Kutsche
Country: Germany
Software: Photoshop

this artwork got lost in my folders in 2003, i just reworked the textures. It started as a 5 Min ink-on-paper doodle. it's inspired by david lynch's film "The Elephant Man" and Chris Cunningham's "rubberjohnny". Completely done in Photoshop. Curious what you think about it!

Excelent work! I love Rubber Johnny, I watched it over and over again. I think your painting resembles his work but also has its own personality. Very good anatomy too. Keep it up

Excellent lighting in this image. Its so eerie knowing this guy is sitting there in the dark. The green nightvision look makes it even creepier with the sclera and cornea bouncing\inverting the aperature of the NV.

Love it!

I havenīt seen those movies, but that doesnīt matter. I like this one. Great arms and hands especially. The only thing whatīs a bit wired for me is this "shoulderhead" (maybe it does matter, that I havenīt seen this movies).
4 Stars :)

I love the "Night vision" feel, specialy how the eyes react to the light.
I really love what you did with the skin texture, would love to see close ups. It would be great if you'd explain how exactly you achieved this texture.
5*

thx everyone!
@Srulik24: For the skintextures, just take some highres photos of different skin areas, tweak them in photoshop, so that you still have texture details, but a 50 percent grey overall appearance (no gradients). You can simply use the High Pass Filter, or just darken and brighten some areas, that the skin looks "flat".
Use that grey skin textures as a layer with the overlay blending option, and use different textures for different areas of the characters anatomy (wrinkled skin for the belly for example)
Take care of the scaling and perspective, for the photos its also helpful to use a similar light direction to that one in the painting, and it's good to take the photos with a very smooth, uniform light.

for the explanation. I am familiar with grayscale textures in Overlay blending mode, but i usually use it only on mattepaintings. You did an exceptional work.
Keep it coming and thanx again.
