View Full Version : dumb question .... ?
modernhorse 04-16-2003, 02:07 PM Hi ....
I've been lurking around this forum for a bit and finally have a question.
I'm using LW and A:M and was wondering if I can export from Wings to these packages for rendering and animation relatively easily. Newbie question. :) Thanks for any answers.

Yup! Just choose a suitable format from the export menu, probably .obj or 3ds for lightwave, I don't know about AM, I think theres a special export option for that.

there used to be a A:M exporter plugin but the writer stoped using A:M so he no longer had a use for the plugin
Not really sure how well it worked tho
I do recall it still having some bugs the last time a new one was released
and it doesnt work with the current release of wings from what I have been told

I thought the AM export was part of the Wings core now.
I just did a very simple test and I was able to export and import (into hammapatch ... which imports AM models) fine.

Thanks. Is this a third party plugin or something?

It's currently a standard export option (used to be a plug)
Linked may be of interest :)

Hamapatch is freeware patch modelling software (works like A:M without the hooks and 5 point patches)
available here http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Ginza/6625/soft10.html
(don't worry there are english menus)

P.S. there was an english mirror page but I can't seem to find it at the moment.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I see that the A:M exporter may not be 'ready for prime time' and may never be. Oh well.
