Hi Guys,

Anyone know how to setup an easy way to render all my scenes at full resolution vertically but half-resolution horizontally. I need to render at HD1080 but to cut on render time, I'm thinking of doing the stretch at compositiing. The device and pixel aspect ratios are driving me crazy....I'm sort of confused on how to go about it. Is there like a pre-render MEL script to handle this?

I also read some where that render times can also be cut if i render my scene separating the red, green and blue channels (they say it saves a lot of time if only a single color channel is computed) and doing the addition later in comp.

TIA.

So are you trying to do interlaced field rendering to 1080i? If that's the case, set your Maya Render Settings to 1920x540, with a device aspect of 1.778 and a pixel ratio of 0.5.

For interlaced footage, don't forget to double your frame rate in preferences, or else set the "By Frame" field to 0.5 in the Render Settings.

If you're trying to render progressive footage to half resolution in one dimension only, set the Maya Render Settings to 960x1080, device aspect 1.778, pixel aspect 2.0, "By Frame" 1.0.
