Pentagramma 01-08-2002, 11:51 PM Hi folks,
My first WIP images...
Lots and lots of work still to do; it´s basically shapes for now - no details, clothes, prosthetic piece (or spoon! :D ) yet.

Strange; they seem OK to me....
It could be a "Geocities" situation - I´ll upload them to another site, and edit the post, ASAP.

pentagramma,
great character man!!! the design is very well put together and his head is very original.
what are u planning for him next??

Thanks, folks! :)
I´m trying to use every proposed characteristic for the challenge, in a not so humanoid design.
The "bone" structure in the head is something like a ressonance box, and I suppose he uses it to generate high-pitch sounds. It´s not really made of bone, it´s more like a mollusk shell.
The tall guy comes from a low-gravity , dense atmosphere enviroment. Even so, I suppose he can´t fly with those small wings, but maybe they can help him in huge jumps - when the need arrives.
Logan, I´m planning his wardrobe right now, probably something that leaves a lot of skin exposed. I´ll try a pirate-like wardrobe, with maybe a few twists.
Pascal, thanks for the help with the link... but I really would like to show the images right on the post. Any suggestions??
:(

At last, it seems like it´s working (the direct link to the images).
Sorry for all the trouble, folks...
(Valeu pela dica, Logan! :D )
Golgoth_bla, thanks! And I totally agree with you - he looks just a creature, without clothes and gadgets.
I´ll focus on that, next.

Thanks a lot, Pascal & Epatnor!
But, weird? Really, guys, what´s so weird about a six-eyed, four-winged insectoid pirate?
(As a matter of fact, we have lots of them here in Brazil! :D )

beautiful, very stylish!!!
very tim burton(ish).

01-13-2002, 04:10 PM
Thanks Logan! :D
I haven´t tried to emulate Tim Burton style - at least, consciously. It happens he´s really influential to me (like Giger, Barlowe, Gilliam, and others).
But I confess: I specially love his style. Love those non-symmetrical spirals, nauseating color stripes , bug-eyes and such...
Wish I could create a character as cool as Vincent, or Beetlejuice, or Jack Skellington, or...
Is there a doctor (or a genie!;)) in the house?

Patrik,
Thanks! I hope you enjoy what I´m working on, right now... :D :D :D
I expect to have a reasonable update by the end of the week - and maybe I can give a few anxious fellas one more reason to nuke Brasil! ;)
And what about you? When are you entering on all this fun?

Ahoy! :)
This is my new update... I just added the prosthetic wing, and I´m working at wardrobe right now. I really would appreciate any feedback, positive or negative.
I´m specially concerned with the "friendly factor". Does this guy look like a, well, guy, or I´m still at creature/monster territory??
Krep: Thanks a lot for the "surprising"! Hope you like this one... :D
( Please notice he´s armless on the images, for display purposes)

Krep and Joe - thanks a lot! :) I´m really glad you guys like it...
And, Joe - I agree with you, the mouth could be a nice touch.
Actually, I had tried something like that already, but it wasn´t working at all. I´ll try another kind of mouth...

Hi everybody,
I would like to let you know that I´ll probably miss the deadline - I have too much work around here... And that´s sad, because it was a very nice experience so far.
Anyway, thanks a lot to everybody who made sugestions to my WIP : you guys are really cool!
And rest assured that, ASAP, I´ll complete it, and post it - even if at the regular 3d artwork section.
To the other challengers, good luck, and have fun! :)
