chibisuke 11-20-2007, 08:58 PM I started to model a head in maya using the create polygons tool and i'm not too sure how to make it into a 3d object that i can edit.
I have the font and side images on the planes.
can anyone help me

u can use a polygon box/plane and extrude it...to make the basic head shape.create polygon wont help much in this case i guess.

Although this may be not a straight answer for your question, I'd like to suggest to read this link (http://www.subdivisionmodeling.com/forums/showthread.php?t=169). The post explains 'the basic' of modeling in general term, and I believe it is well-written.
Here is another (famous) character modeling tutorial online, 'John of Arc. (http://www.3dtotal.com/tutorials/max/joanofarc/joanmenu.asp)'
It is based on 3ds max, not maya; however, I believe it'll give you plenty of general ideas of 'how-to' start off modeling character.

I've read different tutorials for character modeling and most of them use scripts and i didn't want to download on school computers.
I'll take a look at this one

Hmm i don't think that you need scripts for modeling a character ;) if you're doing it by poly by poly or boxmodeling.
