Can anybody recommend a good video tutorial for getting started in Maya? Preferably something that has a path beyond beginner to more advanced concepts? Thx!

Check out 3dbuzz (http://www.3dbuzz.com)
You need to register first. Then go to download and the Maya VTM. Great learning vids for Maya, but realy basic, no intermidate stuff.

If your looking for FREE beginner stuff to get you up, and running using Maya go here (http://www.digital-tutors.com/digital_tutors/maya/index.htm)

BUT, If you can afford to spend $40.00 go to:
Gnomon Workshop. (http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/videos/INT_01.html) they have an awesome 2 DVD set that's called "Intro to Maya" by instructor, and CGI Guru Alex Alvarez that is worth every penny if you ask me.

Actually, Simplymaya was updated VERY recently, a few days ago, so be sure to check out their free movie tutorials.

They also have a whole free series covering the basic tools of the Maya gui as well:) That might help you:)
