View Full Version : Distributed Rendering
LukaStellwag 11-19-2007, 07:25 PM Hi,
is it possible to render a single image with multiple machines using Maya 2008 and Mental Ray? I haven't found a way to do that.

I think satellite can still do that but it's unreliable (at least it was in 8.0)

With the disk just explore and find the Satilite 2008 directory. Follow the install directions and you should be good to go. Watch for the ports as it has changed with 2008.
Would tell you though it is kind of useless as it does not evenly distribute the render as the slave machine will only take about 15 - 20% and it seems cannot use the maximum ammount of RAM available.
Batch rendering however...amazing...!
