I am trying to model a piano (that has straight and also circle shaped lines) and wish to know what is the best method. I tried with polygons and booleans operations, but the booleans seems to create too much confusion in the outliner ( a lot of items that when erased caused me problems). Actually, I had problems in keeping all the objects together as one so I could move it freely.

Thanks.

Mário.

is this going to be a low poly model ? if so you could take a look at wings3d which is great for low poly modeling tasks (its integrated fall option for almost every tool is a big time saver for creating smooth poly curves)

if this is not an option then use CPS or Maya's subdivs - they are easy to handle and give good results

and then there is nurbs - but nurbs can be tricky

if your booleans caused problems it could be that modeling history was turned on while modeling - from time to time it can be necessary to delete history from your resulting surfaces

Oi, Mário.

Well, you can use the polygon make tool and draw to top view and do a polygon extrude (a few times). As far as moving the pieces together, you can select and group them.
