I've just upgraded to OS10.2 so I've only just got to use the latest version of Wings (i was using 0.97.01) and I'm finding some problems.

TweakS crashes as soon as I select it. (Slide is OK though)

When I try to apply one of the suplied textures in AutoUV it applies an inverted image of the Wings interface!

I've posted these on the official site but haven't got any replies yet.

The one that's really frustrating may not be down to Wings at all though.
This gets a little complicated so bear with me!

Loading any object created or modified outside of wings seems to load (it appears in the outliner and geometry graph windows) but if I select it Wings says it has 0 edges, 0 faces and 0 verts. If I attempt to scale or frame I get a crash dump.

I've tried with Poser figures and simple objects from Lightwave.

If I try exactly the same thing on a friends XP machine the objects import perfectly, provided they were created on that machine.
If I try with the objects from my Mac the windows version of Wings behaves exactly the same as the Mac version.

So is my Mac doing something odd to the .obj files? I've no idea, I've got a few more experiments to make, so if I get any more info I'll post it here.

Is anyone else having problems like this? Any suggestions about how to investigate where the problem lies?

Hope someone can help!

Cheers Wasa :o(
The odd thing is, these same .obj's import perfectly to every other 3d app I have access to, Lightwave, Cinema and Poser3. I'm beginning to wonder if it's something to do with Mac Wings not liking anything with UV info in it? Would a Lightwave .obj have any UV info even if I hadn't mapped it?
Scratch that, I've just imported a Lightwave cube created on a windows machine and it imported OK. Damn! I don't know where to go with this!

UPDATE! I've just checked the Type/Creator codes of the problem .obj's and they're TEXT/CWIE I figure if I change the codes to match files that open OK it might fix the problem. I've tried using an unregistered version of GetInfo but it wouldn't edit the codes. That function may be disabled until you pay for it!
Can anyone recommend a FREE app that will let me test this idea?

Oh, the AutoUV is fixed, I deleted the prefs and all is well. Odd cos I'd just done a clean install of my whole system so it wasn't an old prefs causing problems, must have been a bad install.

Hey Baz,
Go to versiontracker (http://www.versiontracker.com) under the Mac OS X tab and search for "creator" you get several listings of freeware that can change the type/creator. Any of them should work fine.

I GIVE UP!

I've changed type/creator codes and it made no difference (OK it was a long shot!)
Then I opened the two Lightwave cube files in BBeditLite, THEY"RE IDENTICAL!!!!!!!

The only difference between them now is the desktop icon, that surely can't make any difference?
I'm going to have to hand this one over to Bjorn, it's beyond me!

Mailed the offending files to Bjorn this morning and he's already fixed it! What a star!
Should be OK in the next release.
