Title: Sirad Nox
Name: Kirsi Salonen
Country: Finland
Software: Photoshop

Hi there,
this took about 8 hours or so. Mostly time was consumed by that little flying thing who just couldn't accept the wing choices I tried to offer him. But now he's ok with them and flying happily.. hehe --
This image came out as a simple building and perspective practise, but then I thought it would also be a nice illo for my (if it ever finishes) book. So, this place is called "Sirad Nox", a vast and terrifying city with enormous walls surrounding it. It's risen from underground here and takes it's first glimpse of sunlight, only to diminish it in an instant to grey and cold in it's vast shadow.
Done in CS2.

Crits and comments are most welcome!!
cheers,
Kirsi

In some pieces we can hear sounds , in that one because it's cold and the walls are enormous , we can easily hear the noise of the wings .
There's another guy here when you look at his works we got sensations sounds or smell , you probably know him Paul Gerrard . (http://sallow.cgsociety.org/gallery/)
As usual for you 5*. Usual because each one is a part of a whole thing .

hey Kirsi!
I am fascinated. I like almost every painting you've ever posted. your style is very different from everything i know. the way you play with shape color and perspective is unique.

I'd love to learn from you.

Hi Kirsi,

a wonderful piece of art - as always. I love the intense atmosphere and mood of this painting. Your colour choice, the composition and perspective are excellent, too. 5 Stars.

wow.. for some reason i didn't get the comment messages to my email. Sorry for answering this late.
I'm greatly surprised here! Thank you guys for your positive feedback! It really kicks my butt to make even more of these fast big scenes. I've done speedys for only a few times before (hehe, started to make them a month ago), so this is really something to improve :)

Eric, yeah I know Paul Gerrard. I saw his brilliant zombie-works already about 3 years ago, I think it was at Epilogue, if I remember right. Great artist there :)

Gonzalo, Gino, Adrian and Marco, thank you so much!

I'll be posting another piece very soon that's NOT a speedpainting.. but I hope you'll like it as much. Trying to improve with that "fine art" side as well :D

cheers,
K
