How can we simulate realistic feather (for a crow) in 3d studio max.
with modelling, texture or even with shag:fur/hair

you know how long it would take for shag to render something like feathers?
look at it like this how close are you going to get to the feathers?
it is always best to stay towards maps then a plugin like that because the more things that have to be calculated the longer the render, unless you have a duel chip processor then its not so bad.
but normal people can't afford a duelly so stay with maps.
use an opacity map.
i might be able to find an example.

if I am using opacity map to do the feathers, should I create instances of a plane (mesh), and position them over the crow model ? How would I animate the crow?
