View Full Version : Problems connecting Edges in Maya
MikeDoyle 11-19-2007, 01:28 AM I am having major issues with what is probably a simple fix. I am trying to fill in the gap between edges of a roof I am building.
Fill hole makes a single face over the entire bottom of the roof, not just between the edges. Trying to bridge the two edges doesn't work either, joining them only in the center.
I know its probably a simple process, but I am completely stick on it.
Thanks.

Try with Create Polygon Tool (Mesh > ..) you can snap it to the vertexes just like normal.

Providing a screenshot may help. In any case, I'd try selecting the edges and using the edge extrusion command to pull out some polygons from one side of the wall. Drag it close to the middle, turn on vertex snap and snap the open verticies to the other side of the wall and merge them. You may also want to connect or split polys down the middle of the extrusion if there are verticies on the perpendicular side of the wall and merge those verts together as well.

Well first are the two edges seperate peaces of geometry? If so you may need to combine them, or you can just vert stap them.

If you've combined two separate halves try the "merge edge tool", just make sure your normals are facing the right way or the edges will get all twisted. If you double click on the tool you can tell it to make the first edge selected the place where the polys will meet, or average the distance between the two to have them meet in the middle.
