I'm currently working on a capstone project for arch school. Anyways, I need to create an external structural system for the building. I have a rough layout of it in SketchUp and what I would like to do is import it into C4D and possibly use sweep nurbs to create a frame from the edges/vertices. Is it possible to do this? Do you know what I should import the file as? I basically just need to give a specified rectangular thickness to the vectors in a mesh/model. Is there anyway I could do this in 3DS? Sorry for all the question, still an amateur.

if you can import the mesh in c4d, try to google for
Advanced Atom Array plugin.
i think it'll do the job

dxf is the file that will export your splines (if that soft support them) then just sweep them in c4d, or import the file as obj or 3ds (but 3ds will be triangles) then use convert edges to splines! or if you want to make frames just use extrude inner with "preserve group" disdabled.

AAA is amazing thank you so much. Here is a link to download if anyone needs it. It does work on R10 http://www.defcon-x.de/c4d-plugins/downloads/
