Hi, i can't command line render for some reason the .bat i'm using is-

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2008\bin\Render" -render mr D:\maya\projects\Church\renderScenes\Titanic_Final_Ship.mb

I'm using Win XP X64, quadcore, 4 gb ram. Could it be the space (gap) in 'Program Files'? Its worked fine on my old x86 machine. Any ideas??

yes, its the space in "Program Files". The command interprets this as the beginning of a new render option. Usually all options are separated by a white space and everything else shouldn't be containing any... At least that's what I know about it.
Also it should read "-renderer" when you try to address mental ray.
Why don't you just type "render" and then all your options?

render -r mr D:\maya\projects\Church\renderScenes\Titanic_Final _Ship.mb
