Help!
I have a scene with 4 misss_fast_skin shadern. The scene itself is quite heavy... many faces, and a lot of high resolution textures (4k). But everything is rendering fine. Until I raise the rendering resulotion (I need 3000X3500). But it means that my 4 lightmaps must have a resolution of 6000 X 3500 (!!) and thats killing my machine. I have just 2 gigs ram :\
Is it necassary, that the lightmap has the resolution with 2xwidth of my rendering resolution? Or do I just need the ratio 2:1 (then I could also use 1:0,5)??

You can keep the ratio and make it smaller. As a matter of fact the default setting on 3ds
Max is half rez, i.e. exactly what you suggested (1:0,5), and you could go even lower in a pinch.

Thanks Mr Zap!
I've tried some different Lightmap Resolutions, all with the same Ratio (2xwidth : 1xheight). The artifacts disappeared, but the results with different resoltions are not the same. With a higher resolution of the lightmap, the rendered model becomes a bit brighter...??
