can't really tell from the angle, and i'm definetly not a dinosaur expert, but i think the mass of the tail is a little small. on a bipedal dinosaur, the tail is supposed to balance out the mass of the rest of the dino so they can walk and not topple over on their head.

but like i said maybe it's just the angle.

other than that, looking good

ok I'll see if I can find some other reference. The pics I have of them they have long fingers like a velosarapter...

I'll look into it.

Thanks for the reply

Looks nice so far. The hands (or whatever they are called ;), i'm not dino anatomy expert ) stick out being bit boxy. Other thing is his jaw - might be a bit too short. Keep it up:thumbsup:

the deinonychus looks like the "raptors" in jurassic park 1... actual raptor skeletons reveal them to be much more slender, almost a combination of the "raptors" in JP1 and the Galimymus in JP1.

the closer your model gets to the JP1 animatronics, the better, since the movie dinos were not accurate raptors.

Hey kurt! your dino is coming along nicely..perhapes the claws on the back feet should be longer to make him looked more balanced. I'm wondering if your going to get into more muscle detail or let the textures do that?. Good work so far man..keep updating!!

Thanks wgeddes, ill play around with her a bit more.

Fetus.. the claws look a bit funny longer... I watched jurassic park 3 last night and I think the claw size is pretty close. And i'll add a bit more muscle detail before I go into texturing

I did move the jaw back a bit looks better I think.

Just a updated picture with the foot almost done

very nice looking now, Kurt!

btw: is this freehand, or referenced?

are you using genuine SubD or CPS?

wgeddes, have a few pictures of a deinonychus, but there not great, so im tring to stay as close as I can.. the model is all poly, but I do convert to sub-d to pull details and muscels..... I hate CPS tool...

ane comment.. dino's almost nevver have thier tails curved when they run or stand. so i suggest straghten the tail. it also looks silly.

I'd say make that main claw a bit more arched... even when the toe is flat, that bigger claw still archs over the others (currently, it doesnt look all that bigger than the other ones) and maybe the toe starts a big too high..?

but your dinosaur looks good... keep it up.
Cheers,

Started to add some colour, still have a lot of colours to add. Before you ask why blue..

Its was actually the color of the first Deinonychus I saw in a book my mother bought me when I was young about 8.. That book was what got me interested in dino's and why Deinonychus is my favorite...

Heh, whatever floats your boat... but what can I say, I have a color infatuation with black and red. I want to make a dinosaur...black skin/scales, and glowly red eyes with like red horns and stuff...

gawd, that'd be awesome...LOL...anyways, just increase the bump on that skin tho, but its lookin' good!
UPDATES UPDATES UPDATES!!!
Cheers,

No one saw living dino, so You can make him in any color You like ;) Some red patterns would be cool, maybe brighter belly? Whatever You choose, You should make the scales (bump) more visible, to make the skin appear more complex.

keep it up:wip:

 nicer and nicer.

I don't like the eye , probably because it's black around the iris ;). And bump seems kinda uniform-procedural ;) Keep working
