View Full Version : fur rendering problem
as you can see on my image the edge under the fur seems not to be antialiased as the other edges. With only 2-3 light sources the fur makes no problem, only with the GI script I get this render error.

Are there any settings to prevent this? Or do I have to composite the fur?
Any ideas?
By the way, I also had this problem some time ago with paint effects.

Read the manuals! This is what it says in the fur troubleshooting section (and the lame solution):
After rendering, there is a gap between the edge of the surface and the fur growing out of it
Try either of the following:
Increase the tessellation of the NURBS surface in Maya (see Using Maya: NURBS Modeling) or reduce its tessellation in Fur (see NURBS Tessellation).
Fur is composited with the geometry internally using Z-depth information. Because Z buffers are not anti-aliased, in certain cases, fringing can result when there is geometry in front of the fur. To remedy this, render larger and then resize the image:rolleyes: , or render in separate passes and do an alpha composite. Make sure you set the Shading to 1 under Anti-aliasing Quality in Render Globals before rendering.
