Hi,
experimenting with fur in maya for a possible project, and i am having some issues when it comes to rendering it.
I was initially doing my tests but when it came to rendering with the rasterizer (which is apparently the better way to render fur) I get weird errors in render. But with scanline I dont.
As seen below:
http://www.bedistinct.co.uk/Images_for_posting/scan_rast_compare.jpg
Is this possibly the fact that i am using 2008. Is 8.5 more stable.
The setup up is the same for both images, I just changed the primary renderer to rasterizer. With default settings.
Anyone experienced this problem before.
I got fur on nurbs shape, basic 3 point light setup. No final gather. And just using basic shadow maps. (Forgot to change to detail shadows for above renders, will do in future, understand its better)
Also this is the 1st time i have tried using fur, are there any do's and dont's anyone could recommend. ie model with nurbs or polys, any difference, when adding fur. (saw the digital tutors fur kit tutorial. Quite old, but most things still apply from what i have tried, but is there anything new i should know)
Hope someone can help
Many thanks
Rich
