View Full Version : Radiosity - Sky object
Aries 04-15-2003, 04:34 PM Hello C4D users..
I try to find how Sky object affects the scene with radiosity on.
There are big differences between Sky closing the scene and a Sphere closing the scene..
Any tips on that ? Some theory ?
Thanks a lot..

You're generally better off using a sky object because it adapts itself to the size of your scene. The bigger the scene the more samples you need.

Thanks Adam...
But i find that Sky object is best for "compact" scenes... the sphere for "enclosing" must be really small to obtain a good distribution.
I really need to know.. Sky is just a big "sphere" ? and how big it is? any formula for that ?

Huge man, huge. I got it to display by hitting "o" or something once, I swear... ...or maybe I was just drunk at the time. You know how if you make something big enough it eventually gets an "r" or a ^ value in an equation? I think it's like that.
But I think which one to use should depend on your scene, I've gotten interesting effects by putting a large disc above the scene with high luminace/generation values. Though when you use objects for sky radiosity it tends to make the shadows rough with artifacts.
Hmmm, what the heck was I gonna say... ...it was something halfway useful too...

Thanks Caravaggio..
But I don't think I can see the Sky object sphere.. it's not really visible.. :)
Anyway you are right.. interesting effects can be obtained in many ways. But the manual is not very helpfull.. not much theory.. ehh :)
