View Full Version : Need help for basic outdoor lighting!

hey friends!

i need some help for lighting a basic outdoor scene of a house.. im using 3dmax, mental ray with a daylight system.. the thing is.. even when i tone down logarithmic exposure control.. the scene dosnt have those nice detailed shadows in it.. can somebody give me some advice on what to enable and general light settings?

try 'mr photographic exposure control' instead.

isnt that in 3dmax 2008? i am working with 3dmax 8 so i cant us the mr photographic exposure control. It's not that i get a horrible render, its just that its very flat and generally doesnt have those detailed raytraced shadows.. :hmm:

Found this nice lighting (mr and v-ray) tutorials... The author uses max 7.

thanks, nice link :thumbsup: . it seems that using regular MR omni's and spotlight works great. I Was using a daylight system..which i just couldnt get right for some reason.

It seems like the OP is updating his/her website, and the tutorials are temporarily down.
