View Full Version : Displacment/Depth Map to obey Alpha channel of TGA file?

Okay, here's a bit of a conundrum. Been tinkering around with Ultimapper and getting a normal map and a depth map made.

Have them made but the depth map doesn't seem to be helping my character. I'm getting weird artifacts and extremes happening in places. Like the hands. Half of the hand, from wrist to mid palm swells quite large.

Is it possible to have the displacement map follow the alpha channel in what it will displace and by how much? Or is there another method?

It's hard to tell what the problem is from what you described, maybe you could post an image. But for an example on how to use the alpha channel as a mask for the displacement see the attachment. Though that's just patching things up, not fixing the problem.
