There is more contrast in the bottom image, you can do this with the 'Brightness/Contrast' adjustment or with Curves. The colour change is difficult, I tried replicating it but you can't do it by redefining the white balance.

The difference you see in the closeup is most likely because of a sharpening filter (like Unsharp Mask)

To be honest I find the bottom image slightly too contrasty, and the colours look a bit more unnatural as well.

You would play with the Hue/Saturation (CTRL+U). Looks like they bumped up the Green level of Saturation in the bottom image.

Either that or they used a blend layer mode of overlay with a green layer.

1-create a new layer
2-select the area you want to make more colorful
3-fill that area with the desired color
4-cycle through the layer modes (Overlay, Color, Hue, Screen, etc) until you get the desired effect.
