View Full Version : texture and topology prob
leonlabyk 11-14-2007, 12:50 PM I have textured my model but only just realised when it came to exporting the texture that I have imported a model without the uvs layed out. Is it possible to export the low res, layout the uvs properly, and then re-import it and apply the texture and geometry from my high res model.
Many thanks,
Leon

Yes! Can't think of anything left to say, you laid the steps out yourself.
Keep the texture as polypaint while you do these steps and transfer it to a texture as a final stage.

I have layed out the uvs on my low res mesh in Maya but cannot work out how to transfer the texture and displacement from the high res in zbrush. Any help with this matter is much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Leon

import the new obj with the uv layout into zbrush while having you tool active and zbrush will merge the imported uvs with the tool

Thanks hakanpersson for your help, I have managed to get the uvs sorted now. The problem is when I try and goto a higher level the model goes nuts and bits of the geometry start flying off everywhere. Do I need to re-start with my model and delete the higher levels or is there a way I can still use them without the geometry flying off everywhere.
Many thanks for your help,
Leon

It was to do with my import settings of the obj in Maya and once fixed I was able to sort out the uv's and do as you suggested.
Many thanks for your help,
Leon
