Hello,

I am a 3ds max 9 user and I also use vray 1.5. I am currently working on a lighthouse model and have finished modeling everything.

My problem is texturing. I have a large rope wrapped around a log, but I can't seem to find any tutorials on how to texture a rope. I can't find any good rope texture either. I modeled the rope already.

I am having difficulty trying to solve this issue. Would someone politely point me in the right direction on how to texture a rope. I'll try to send you an image of what I'm talking about, but right now I am not in front of my computer so I don't have the file to show you.

thanks a bunch

well guys, I was able to create a rope by using the twist, bend, modifiers. Now my problems is how do I get to bend that rope around my log. So far I have a straight rope, but I can't seem to bend it so itll spin around my log. I tried using the bend modifier, but that only bends it onti itself. It doesn't work like a Helix does.

Can someone help me??

Please???

sounds to me like you need more segments so the bend modifire has something to work with.I woud do it manually though but you defenetly need more segments!!

Try to bend a box that has just 1 poly per side,Then you bend a box that has 10 polys per side,i think you get what i mean

I have a bunch of segments. Like I said before, I was able to bend my rope that I created, but the problem lied in the type of bend that I wanted. When I bent my rope, using the bend modifier, it bent the rope in a circle. Thats not what I really want. I want to bend it like in the helix fashion.

you know what I mean??

I've created a new tutorial on CGTextures which shows you how to make a rope texture. The result is a colour texture and a matching normalmap, so all you have to do is map it on a renderable spline. (splines are easy enough to bend in all directions, so it solves a lot of problems)

Go to www.cgtextures.com (http://www.cgtextures.com/) and click on Tutorials in the top menu.
