thanks luk8- one of my favorite things in the world to draw is monsters/horror. actually the "tales from the crypt" comic inspired me to start drawing comic books.

Why haven't I seen this thread before?? I love your work, especially when you sit down and finish up a piece like that alien cat or the fisher-girl. I like the cat so much because it looks alien, but you didn't do the easy thing by making it a monster or mutant.

Your pencil work shows great control of line and shade.

Wonderful work and would love to see more finished pieces from you !

Yes, I would say this is rather a sketchbook since you have a multitude of pictures and not just one. But since you started the thread before the subforum for skechbooks were created nobody can blame you. Maybe the administrators will move it sooner or later.

Now to the important part. You have really nice stuff, I am very impressed. I especially like your skribbles. In my eyes they are amazing. How do you build up your characters when you start a new one. Do you use a simplyfied skeleton? If yes how does it look like?

Algorithmic- thanks man. i try to experiment with a lot of different techniques. I'm gonna try and post more stuff by the end of the week so keep your eyes open :)

TedNindo- Thanks for the props man. :) I do usually start with a directional line ( to show the flow of the illustration ) then i work on the foundation(skeleton). I'll post some examples of how I work. :)

Gary, very cool stuff man, i remember seeing a couple of your daily sketch entries a while back. Your drawings are quite fluid and full of character, i'd like to see more finished stuff but i understand this is more of a sketchbook. Nices updates man very clean appealing stuff, no blood trail on the last one? A bright red-orange would really pop off the page. Also, you could push the low-lit greenish light more, maybe accent the trees... just a suggestion? Looking foward to more.

thank you. I use a photo non reproductive pencil (which is normally a light blue) to do my roughs then i go over it with an H pencil or something slightly darker. then i just scan it clean it and color it.

hey Gary as you may now I really like your work but for now I have some things that bother me :). The hair in the good morning painting looks a bit like a wigg and I guess its because the hair do not give and shadow onto the face. It looks as if you had painted them after every thing else. The highlights are very close to the hair where should be shadow. The other thing is that I just don't like (personal gusto) the way you shaded the hair, with this thin lines I think that a rougher shading would fit the painting much more.

Hell yes Gary! You're pumping them out now...love the colors and linework! You got the western theme nailed down...that Queen of the Rocketmen piece is outstanding. The only thing buggin me is the crop on that Ghost Buster's piece. He is suppose to be holding that ghost-gun right at the viewer no? If there was just a bit more space on the left side of the image i think it would read a lot better....i know those are timed sketches. Anyway glad to see new stuff from you keep it up!

Hey Gary, i agree with MattU that revised piece is much improved from the older piece. The overall tone is much more dramatic and colorful! That Freddie dream DSG is great too...i love teh style treatment and its just plain cool. You must be getting motivated with Halloween around the corner...and your love of horror charcters.

I just want to repeat what Vyse said before. The Zombie-Starwars stuff is very cool.
The only thing I don't like that much is the way you did jabbas arms, they look strange, I would prefere the conture the other way around going across the arm not with it.
