I recommend to aid the voters a turntable rendering of the model. It would have to be done in QuickTime or Windows Media at a resolution of 600 x 400 OR 300 x 200. The render might be done as a Quickshade or Beauty Render.

You should do a wireframe render in a way that you can see a bit of the front and side
of the creature.

And about the DEADLINE


An artist can post your entry on Sunday evening.
And the entry will be elegible for voting.
BUT it will be noted that the entry was delivered AFTER the deadline.
It will be up to be voters to take that in consideration when casting their votes.

Tired and frustrated, I couldn't leverage Modo to do what I had planned. Sculpting had to be scaled back and not refined due to constantly crashing comp. Luckily the texturing went alot smoother (or I wouldn't be posting this here.) Please bear in mind that this model uses image based deformations, therefore the wireframe versions don't show the intricate details such as if I had modeled it in Zbrush. There are some amazing works in this thread already and I have no hope of winning but at least I managed to get my model in this time. Thanks everyone.

nice to be part of this challenge. maybe it was just for z- and mud-buddies - i learned a lot (i tried some sculpting exercises, but such a challenge is no place for learing such stuff). i'm sorry for not-finishing, i did not expect those amounts of work last weeks. the main thing i learned for me is, that modelling basics still have some weight in production. so watch your poly skills beside digital clayworking. i still wonder why i never heard of some people in here before that pulled out my eyes clutching my screen. amazing!
thanks daniel for sharing your concept! to pick a concept instead of creating an own was very attractive for me -nice idea! although it may let you forget about the basics that fuel your digital skills (no crits). i expected more people to take a look at this challenge...

The best overall entry for me would have to be the high res wolf model by DDS. The concept sketch was rough, but the final render just blew me away. A close second would have to be the gill monster by oliveria. Those two out of all of the rest really just made me say wow....now that is impressive.

'Best topology' makes no sense here, since it's all sculpting, and retopologising for a neat low res mesh is a no-brainer.
