I've got only a few hours a day to mess around with this guy, so... i'll go ahead and explain a little more.
I have developed a work habit that leads me to lean away from conceptualizing my characters in 2d form... I see something in my head, and i try to build up from there. I find it very important, for myself, to work backwards. By allowing my vision to take shape in 3d, i am able to lay it out as i go, and make more free-flowing ideas collide. Much like a freehand tattoo artist, who draws the design on your arm, w/o a stencil.
I am aware of the unpracticalities of this, but for my own personal work, i enjoy this freedom.
Here we go...
Original inspiration from an old retired Ultima project... After getting little tastes of general inspiration, i had to make it mine.

I was pretty unhappy with the ribcage construction before, so i decided to make it more natural. After remapping the topology, to take the "stylized" ribcage out of the base mesh... I began resculpting from scratch.

Hehe quite a funny looking character u got in here.
I think the silhouette for the torso could be less V shaped, because the sides are like straight lines. I would make the ribcage stick out. Also I would erase the wrinkles in the pants, the ones in the tight area! Also hands could be longer and slimmer :)
Keep it up! Good luck on next 24h :D
