View Full Version : deleting unused PRECOMPS :)
nnasr.rm 11-13-2007, 08:10 AM i got myself into this HUGE project that involves so many precomps, and i was wondering if there is anyway of selecting the main comp, and telling after effects to delete any precomps in the project window that are not used within the selected main comp....
please let there be somehting like this! pleeeeeaaaaseeeee :))

You can select any composition in the project bin (must select it in the bin, NOT the timeline), and then go to FILE>REDUCE PROJECT. This will delete all assets that are not used (directly or indirectly) in the comp you selected in the bin.
Be careful though, this will not just delete sub-comps but ALL assets not associated with the selected comp including images, video etc..

I also think there's a dedicated comp cleanup script at AEnhancers, which does the job a little more selectively...
