Hi everyine i have the following programs and have only managed to use 1 of them with any degree of sucess
1 wings 3d
2 my studio
3 daz studio
4 blender(no idea at all)

wings 3d is pretty strait forward and i made a car (very basic)
and so then i wanted to apply a texture or map it whatever (dont realy know the differance)
so i downloaded daz as i was told that wings 3d ,s renderer is rubbish and if i wanted to make realistic models i should download daz

sorry trying to explain my problem err i have seen bitmaps that have been layed out
all stretched out (how do i go about making a bitmap image that stretches across my car to give it detail and how do i apply it in any of the programes listed above)

Blender is an excellent open source app and has been used recently to create a feature length animation "Elephants Dream" and has advanced much due to this project.Plus it is well documented and supported.

and blender is very good in uv mapping, the difference is that with mapping you can 'map' polygons as 'isles' in the 2d(UV) cordinate space, rather that just apply some (pref. seamless) texture..

heres some introductory info about uv mapping:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/UV_Unwrapping_And_Texturing

and greybeards uv-mapping video tutorial(that ive learned uv mapping from) can be found on this page:
