The animation is a bit floaty as he is sort of drifting between the keyframes. Don't be afraid to lock poses down a bit more and go more quickly and firmly between actions. About 7-8 seconds in he is a bit off balance to the right and looks like he might fall over. Start with getting his weight right and then hit the poses clearly, stay there, and hit the next pose again clearly and more quickly.

Hi Fabian,

Looking good. I didn't see the first (no Divx) but I think that Ulven's comments still stand for this WIP. Can I suggest you video yourself doing the action and have a look at some of the timings. You'd be surprised at how fast some of your actions will be and also how motionless other parts are. You might want to load up a DVD of Toy story or other, turn the volume off (or if you're like me, you'll get sucked into watching it!!) and then go through a lively dialogue scene and get a feel for the timing. If your DVD player does single frame advance, you'll see just how fast some actions are.

Ulven summed it up really well when he said "Don't be afraid to lock poses down a bit more and go more quickly and firmly between actions."

Keep up the good work.

Way better, but more of the same! Push it! Strike a pose (song lyrics I think), get it spot on, don't float between keyframes. Hit you poses (not full body at the same time though) keyframe it, lock it, move on at the pace that's natural. Act it out in the mirror. Use things like overshooting and anticipation to get your actions and weight to read the way you want them (get "The Animators Survival Kit" book if you need to know what I'm talking about.)

Much better! Agree with Ulven. I'd also add that a few blinks would help and the eyes don't seem to be focused on anything. Some solid eye moves would be good. So, towards the camer/autocue, then a movement away, then back etc. You'll find that on a broader eye movement the eyes tend to blink, realising that with the rapid movement and therefore difficulty in recognising the scene, it's a good time to blink thus refreshing the eyes.

It's really come on well!

Hello-

Nice work!

I think thats a pretty good start! Thats definately better than any character animation work I have done so far . . but, I can see what might improve it . . if you dont mind a suggestion.

Like someone mentioned, go from a pose to another pose, with emphasis on the pose motion, rather than the floating motion or glide between poses. The left foot swivels on the heel, which is fine, the animation here might benefit if the character shifts weight from one foot to another while he is talking (it doesnt matter which foot, just as long as there is some sort of shift.) but at the moment, the shift on the heel doesnt seem to carry weight into the hips like a person standing casually would, so it just looks like the heel is turning mechanically rather than how a person might shift about when standing.

I think the way you have animated the hands is appropriate with how he is talking. Unfortunately, I dont speak or understand very much en espanol, so I dont know what the character is emphasizing. Looks like your on your way to some nice work though.
