View Full Version : Dropping Faces
M_Orlich 04-14-2003, 09:34 PM Hi all,
I'm having a little problem where I lose what appears to be random faces when I zoom in close. This only seems to be more of a problem in the persp viewport. My ortho views seem to work right half the time.
Any ideas on what this might be?
Thanks,
Matthew

It sounds like you may ned to adjust your clipping planes.
In the attribute editor for your camera, in the "Camera Attributes" section, you will see two values. One called "Near Clip Plane" and one called "Far Clip Plane". If you set the near very low and the far very high, this should fix your problem.
Let us know if it works!!

That is exactly what it was, thanks for pointing that out to me, Floyd. Do you know if the camera resets with every new scene?

I believe there is a way to save your preferences so that every new scene is set-up the way you like.
Another thing to do would be to make a new scene, set your script editor to "echo all", and then make a new scene camera with all the settings you want. Select all the code that the Script editor generates and then move (middle mouse drag) it to a shelf. Be sure to hit "Save All Shelves" in the shelf menu.
The next time you need a scene camera, just hit your button!

Cool, great tip bro, thanks! In a lot of ways Maya is as hard or as easy as you make it. You get your hands so full with the complexities, you forget about the basics.
