mattonguard 11-10-2007, 11:58 PM Ok i have a cylinder, what i want todo is take it and add a new edge all the way around the object. i have tryed to use the cut tool take make a cut all the way across in both the left and right view. It never comes out right, so my question is what is a better way todo this?

Hi,
I think it would help if you specify which software you are using, as the tools (and their names) tend to vary between packages.
In Maya, there is an "Insert Edge Loop" tool which will achieve what you want; create a uniform edge around your geometry.

Heh, i meant todo that but when i went back to edit my post it wasnt there... guess it took a day. I am using 3D Studio Max 9

lol ok guys someone on irc helped me. I am so newbie sometimes, Slice Plain tool did the trick.

And in Max you just select the edges you want to split and click Connect.
