You have No Time Limit for your sketch. IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.

Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
They can be done on any medium.
If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
You can post an entry at anytime for the topic presented on this thead BEFORE the voting thread for THE WEEK has been posted.
The artist also has to post total length of time it took and program used.
Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
The topics will be picked at random from the list on the TOPICS thread >>LINK<< (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php/?t=145003)
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them).
Good Luck

I had to go out and buy paint for this one, the digital version was terrible - so the acrylic and canvas panel took about an hour and a half and ended up about the same haha.

- small wip included.

Here is my try. Painted from mirror of course. No reference picture necessary, this image is close enough ;-) 30-40 minutes in Artrage. Hope you like it :)

Took full advantage of the lack of a time limit as I got a bit (self) involved- Photoshop CS , 4 hours (I'm still a bit slow)

Hope anyone who views appreciates the comedy.

I thought it was funny anyway.

Oh, here's the original version with a coloured cape- I liked the spark of colour but I desaturated it for the other one in case people wanted pure monochromatic!

Pretty cool self portraits people! I like yours a lot Ferg0, it's very unusual! :)

Here's mine

Photoshop CS3, 52 minutes

I used a mirror and I added all the jewellery and feathers, it has been fun to do since the arm pose changed a lot (I've had to move it lots of times since I'm using this arm to select the eyedropper tool ^^)

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out since it looks a lot like me :)

Thanks Dianae!

That's really great work- especially for copying from a mirror, getting that arm right must have been tricky!

Just think how tired it would have got if you hadn't moved it for 52 minutes though :)

Dianae, that's just too good and fast!

Hmm, I do need practise. Didn't look at the time, but no more than 2h I think.

Great portraits all! Xelar - Like it, very artistic. Razz - Nice values and mood. embryotic - Great expression. Dianae - Very good, I like your composition. Ferg0 - Good photorealism - and cute costume.. krpolak - intense and also good values. SpankTheMonk - Good quick sketch - you must be so sick of people telling you that you look like Jesus. Mantra - Lookin good - try working a bit on your blending (unless you like rough paintstrokes) Spinks - Nice colour experiment - Maybe a few darker values to make it pop?
Everybody here have such creative ideas - I just painted myself out of the shower with a towel ;)

I have two monitors and on one of them (LCD) this looks a little too light and on the other it looks a little too dark. If the values look totally off to any of you please let me know.

Wow, great self portraits embryotic, xelar, razz and iuvo!

Thank you very much btw people :)

Some more for fun, I've used some snapshots taken with my webcam as reference for these ones, posing and using a mirror would have been just too hard :D It has been much faster and easier to paint than the previous one with a mirror.

I've had a lot of fun doing them!

Photoshop CS3, 20 minutes each sketch, 1 hour total.

I should have taken more time on this, its just that I knew this was something I could do quickly since I have a pretty settled face, that I am quite used to seeing...

great portraits people

iuvo- really nicely done, great idea out of the shower, good way to put up the hair! oh yes I get the JC thing a bit

Dianae- great portrait, and portraits...
