i am using the joan tut to model this head. it is my first time using this method, but it is just the rough draft somewhat. i am still tweaking the verts here and there. its also a mirror instance at the moment. i am sure once i weld it it will look a bit cleaner. do you think maybe i have to many verts in the chin area?

One thing to remember with this Joan tut is that because you are using a "cartoonish" reference pic, your mesh is going to come out "cartoonish". If you are going for realism, still use the Joan tut, but use a real ref picture. That will help you with your proper proportions. I struggled to get proper proportions (and still struggle) because I started off with this tutorial. Other than that, I think you have a good start going. :)

thank you for the advice. i will work with my wifes ref tomorrow. for now ill just post some updates, not much accomplished for an hour worth of vert pushing, but i think it is getting there slowly but surely
