Hi, Can anyone advise/help? My problem is quite simple, I have flat images of flags, and I want to make them flutter like real flags - with lighting (highlights and shadows).

Is this do-able in AE? I have verson 7

Cheers in advance!

Sounds like this might be what you're looking for:

http://zaxwerks.com/3dflag/index.shtml

A little expensive perhaps, but certainly an easy way to get the effect you're after. I'm sure one of the more experienced AE wizards (Mylenium?) might be able to suggest an expression-based solution.

Cheers!

Here's a tutorial that I found on Creative Cow:

Other than using a displacement map of some sort - I really don't know how you'd do this without Zaxworks or a 3D program. AfterEffects is really more of a motion graphics or compositing program - great for polishing video and creating stylized effects but not the best when it comes to simulation real-world items (blowing flags, 3D objects etc).

Hope the link helps...
