View Full Version : Vehicle: Macross Plus...fired.....
Re-touched from the wip rendering, and hopefully made the lighting "not so flat".
Okay, ya ll can laugh at the contrails, but I tried my best :( If anyone knows how to improve this please let me know.
1024x768, wallpaper size.
Thanks all.

Hmm.... You know, one of your missiles is going somewhere else. I think your shader need a bit of work.. in the following sense:
First off, if you are going to photorealism, then you should know that no Air Force will allow their fighters to get dirty BWAHAHAhahah heee... so, no dirt marks
Second, the black lines around the body are not suppost to be simple decorations. Add some bump mapping to make them look like they are part of the fighter's body, and not the paintjob.
Keep working on the blur. Right now the pic looks like someone came with their finger and smeared the back of the fighter.
And yes, keep working on those smoke trails...
Update soon, I'll want to see what the final pic looks like. I love Robotech!!!!! :buttrock:
Good luck!!!!

That is one of the greatest Macross jets I've seen....
I really like the little details and stuff. VERY realistic. Great missiles, too.
But, there are two thing that could be improved on IMHO. The blue fire from the rear thrusters are sorta small...I'd say either make 'em bigger or blur it a bit more so it looks like its going at...supersonic speeds, perhaps? ;)
Also, what is that weird thing to the right of the cockpit?:surprised
It's sorta wing-ish, but...what is it?
but still, this is great. I -seriously- could do this for beans.
Can't wait for the final version!

whats up yfx? Not quite UW, but just north of you at Western
Anyway, nice rendering, only thing I would seriously change is the background, it's really low-res compared to the jet. Cool stuff though.
response.
1. specifically HOW do i improve the smoke trails?? lol....i dno't even know where to start.
2. those micro missiles are suppose to be all weird right after they're fired, maybe some motion blur would help.
3. the yf19 has two front fins, purpose to increase agility.
4. hard to find high resolution pics of skies...if anyone knows a site..plz let me know.
thanks again.

The plane's great, But I remember that the missle pod is capacple of lauching waaaaaay more missles than that..:p
u're right....15 on each side for a total of 30. But i'm keeping it simple until i get the smoke trails down.

Nice. :)
You should have used the background as a reflection map for the canopy - would have helped to hide the lack of detail in the low-res pilot too.
So... does it transform? Are you doing a YF-21? Are you animating it?
All the best.
appreciate the suggestions, I will try to experiemtn w/ the reflection map. The model was not built w/ the transformable function in mind, maybe in the future. I will be working on the yf-21 next, but will probably be w/ poly modeling.
thanks.

First... The model looks great.
I agree with Tuqui-tuqui, the body lines need a bit of bump to make them look a little more like body lines and less like paint.
Are you using a 2D paint program to put in the engine and missile exhaust or is it part of your render? I had a bit of trouble getting missile trails to look even presentable. I will send you a couple of links to see how mine turned out. Same for the engine exhaust if you are interested.
All in all, I like the model a lot. Keep up the good work.

as for the render. it looks good, but after having a chance to see macross zero i've been spoiled so I couldn't comment fairly
