View Full Version : Question on setting up Stereo Cameras
Squint 04-14-2003, 01:07 AM Okay, I'm new to this forum, but not entirely new to Maya. I've been playing around in it for about the last 6 months. I'm wondering if there's any way to make a rendered movie actually 'pop out' from the screen using, say, those little red & blue cheapo glasses you get when you go see an Imax movie and everything you see is in 3d.
I thought that AW had a plugin for something like this a while back, but I can't seem to find it now. I was wondering if there's another way to do this in Maya 4.5.
Also, anybody know where I can get some of those cheesy little 3d glasses? This is for a class project.
Thanks for any and all help!

Don't know of any plugins.
Make two parallell cameras, render one through a plane with a transparent shader 100% red, the other with a green one.
Then composite the two animations on top of each other, 50/50.
The tricky part is the distance between the cameras, you'll have to test it.

So is it possible to do the same 3d setup but using polarized glasses in maya? I think that the picture is going to come out a little clearer if it's set up like this. The red/blue setup just seems too... red...& blue. :)
Thanks again

Okay, forget it, I found the plugin that Maya had. I couldn't remember where it was hidden at, but I'll post the link for anybody that might be interested.
(This is a sweet-n-simple plugin, and it holds the distance constraint of the leftCamera & rightCamera to the 'normal' distance of what the human eye would be. Very nice, very quick.)
