Hi!
I am trying to make this stick follow a circular path.I have used the spacing tool in 3D Studio Max, but it doesn't do what I want (look at the two pictures).I also did it by hand in order to show you what I want and why is not what I want.
Also, I want to make the other sticks copies of the original stick, meaning that if I rotate the original stick, the copies will rotate too, in the same direction relative to the original stick and not to the resulting compound, so if I rotate the stick "up", all others will rotate "up".
Also, as you can see, the pivot of my stick is where it should be, but still it doesn't what it's supposed to do.
Thank you in advance!

Best regards!

Hi!

As I think I get your problem, just do one thing, take the values of all the three axis(x,y,z) 0,0,0 of the pivot of your object as it place the pivot at the dead centre(the intersection point of two dark grid lines). Then with rotate tool, rotate your object with copying command minding the space in-between, it appears an dialog box, in which you can fill the number of copies you want. In the appeared dialog box select the "instance" option instead of "copy" so it will solve your other problem also.

Please feel free to criticise or ask again if you don't get the answer.

Good Luck!

Clever method, I didn't thought of it before. But it solves only one thing. The sticks now have the layout I want, but rotating the original stick doesn't also rotates the others.

I am happy that I helped you a little bit. And the problem is still taking place due to some software bugs, I also suffered by this problem many times. Do another thing, use "child-parent link" command which you will find in menu out there. It will help you with full controll on your work.

It help me alot, so please ask again if you want.

Good Luck!
